Introducing our Girls! :)

I was thinking that before I start posting about our nature walks, I should introduce the girls first. :)
Maybe I should give the girls nature sounding nicknames! :) I know.....it's a bit corny and we will probably sound like Hippies, but hey....I was born in the 70's. I could have actually had one of these names if my parents were hippies. :) So....without further ado....here are the girls with their new grade levels and the curriculum we are using for each of them:

Introducing, from youngest to oldest.........

                                                                  SUNSHINE:

Sunshine is our baby. She is 11 months old and a bundle of love and sweetness.  She will be tagging along on all of our nature walks and being her usual adorable self. She is a happy baby and that is why we decided to give her the nickname sunshine. :) She is just bright like the sun. She has a warm and vibrant personality. We are enjoying snuggling her and loving on her! :)

                                                                     JASMINE:

Jasmine: Our 4 year old. Technically, she should be doing preschool this year, but we just couldn't wait to dive into My Father's World Kindergarden with her and her older sister, so she will be doing fun projects using MFW K with her sister and also a lot of Preschool fun with Five in a Row. :) I let her choose her nature nickname and this is what she chose. I looked up the meaning of the name Jasmine & here is the meaning it lists: "The name 'Jasmine' has two meanings. First, it is linked to the flower, a beautiful and fragrant bloom used in some medicines. Second, it carries the meaning, 'gift from god'." I would say she chose a perfect name for herself. :) This definitely fits her. :)

                                                                     BROOKE:

Brooke: Our just turned 7 year old. :) She will be using My Father's World 1st Grade and we are actually combining it with their K program...not for any reason other than the fact that we didn't get to use it last year and she is feeling a bit ripped off. :) We had so much fun with MFW K years earlier with her older sister, so we will combine the themes with MFW 1st and do fun projects with her younger sister. :) It will be fun! :) I also let Brooke choose her nature nickname and this is what she chose. :) I asked her why she chose the name and she said that she liked it. :) I like it, too. :) The meaning is just a small stream and she is like a small stream of sweetness. :) I know.....that is corny, but true. :)

                                                                    AUTUMN:

Autumn, our newly-turned 10 year old. :) She will be using My Father's World Exploring Countries and Cultures this year. :) We are looking forward to this. :) I let her choose her nature nickname, too. I asked her why she chose Autumn and she said that she didn't really have a reason other than that she liked it. :) Well, I also like it. I love Autumn. It is a beautiful time of year and she is a beautiful girl.....inside and out. :)

                                                                          ROSE:
Rose: Our 12 year old. :) She is using Classical Conversations Challenge A program this year. :) She is loving it so far and will have fun coming on nature walks with us. :) We decided on her nature name without her knowledge. :) We chose Rose because it is actually her middle name and we think it is beautiful. :) Her name and middle name together mean, "lovely Rose." We think she is our lovely rose. :) She is sweet and caring.

                                                                      HOLLY:

Holly is our Christmas Baby so we felt that this name fit her. :) She has a kind heart and is a great listener. She is using Sonlight this year for Hight School. We are new to Sonlight and are hoping this will be a good fit for her. :) Holly also takes classes at Master's School of Art. We are hoping that she will join us on our nature walks this year. :)

                                                         LILLY:

Lilly is Our 18 year old and first Graduate. :) It is so sad to think I won't be homeschooling her this year, but we are hoping she will join us on our many nature walks and field trips and activities still. :) Lilly chose this name on her own. I asked her what made her choose this name and she said that it is her Birth Flower. :) I looked up the meaning of the name Lilly and it said that it is a symbol of innocence and purity as well as beauty. I love this name for her. It is very fitting. :)

Welcome!!! :) Our First Post! :)

Welcome to our nature walk blog! :) We are a Homeschooling Family from Oregon. We love Charlotte Mason & have decided to adapt her ideas of exploring nature. We use My Father's World curriculum, which suggests taking one day each week to explore nature. We are looking forward to these walks and have decided to blog about them for a couple of reasons. We thought it might be fun to share with family and friends the things we encounter and learn. We live in a beautiful state and rarely take the time to enjoy the beauty we are surrounded by. We are hoping to capture some of this Oregon beauty in photos to share. Some nature walks will be basic places that may not be that exciting, but we hope to also make trips to the Oregon coast, the mountains and other fun places we have surrounding us. :) Another reason we decided to blog our nature walks was so that our family can print our blog at the end of the year so we can have a special keepsake. :) We hope you enjoy our blog! :)
